Shlangenz Company supported the Novgorod team in mixed martial arts (MMA) organizing a trip to the competition, which took place in Pskov on March 4 and 5, 2017.

The competition was dedicated to the heroic deeds of paratroopers of the 6th company. Three participants from Novgorod competed in MMA and jujutsu and they won two 3rd places in their own weight category.

- The Oriental tournament was very serious. Athletes from force structures took part, - says Aleksei Tarasov, teacher of additional education at the Iskra sport martial arts club, trainer in Thai boxing jiu-jitsu and mixed martial arts (MMA). –

But despite this, our guys were very worthy. We intend not to dwell on the results achieved. We will continue to train and perform at competitions.

It should be noted that the last tournament for the Novgorod team became a springboard for further improvement.

Today our Company is in favor of the active development of sports and is trying to promote the Novgorod teams. The company plans to continue supporting the mixed martial arts team so that athletes could honorably represent Veliky Novgorod in all intercity tournaments adequately. Also Shlangenz wishes athletes further victories and conquest of all the planned peaks.

The past tournament is dedicated to the memory of the heroic deeds of paratroopers of the 6th company. On the 1st March 2000, almost the whole 6th company of the 104th guards parachute regiment died in the Argun Gorge. At the cost of their lives, 90 of our fighters with up to 2,500 guns stopped the promotion of an Islamic gang led by Khattab. The leaders of the gangsters offered the paratroopers to miss them in exchange for saving lives several times. But this question was not even condemned among the fighters. As a result, 84 paratroopers were killed (the militants lost more than 500 dead and injured), but the enemy was not missed. By the President of the Russian Federation decree, 22 paratroopers were awarded Heroes of Russia (21 of them posthumously), 68 soldiers and officers of the 6th company were awarded Orders of Courage (63 of them posthumously).
